Valorization and cultural tourism
Valorization and cultural tourism is a key issue for the development of the restoration and protection of cultural heritage sector. The Restoration week 2020 dedicated to this topic a conference “The reuse of historic buildings or site for the development of cultural tourism” that took place in one of the most emblematic villages of central Italy, abandoned throughout the twentieth century and returned to the local context thanks to new hospitality models more suited to the conservation of the built environment and the protection of local culture: Santo Stefano in Sessanio. The conference is aimed at discussing sustainable models of reuse of buildings and historical contexts that we have had a significant impact at the local level thanks to the triggering of new tourist or economic dynamics in general, starting from Italian models and then confronting with international examples.
